2 injured, 1,500 lose power after pole falls on vehicles in Harvey

Pole falls on vehicle, injuring 2 and knocking out power

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A power line fell onto a vehicle in Harvey, causing two minor injuries and leaving more than 1,500 Entergy customers without power for a time Thursday afternoon.

The Harvey Fire Department responded to reports of a downed power line on Gretna Blvd. near Sam’s Club on Manhattan Blvd.

Authorities determined the vehicle was traveling east on Gretna Blvd. when the pole fell onto it, with wires hitting a second vehicle traveling west.

EMS treated the two injuries on the scene. The fire department and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office responded as crews worked to repair the downed pole.

Gretna Blvd. will remain shutdown in both directions until further notice.

Entergy estimates work will be done by 4:30 p.m.

A line of nasty weather and gusty wind worked its way across the Metro Area on Thursday afternoon.
