Adversity is nothing new to LSU. It has faced it all year long, especially earlier on the season. So, after an early fall on beam, the team, in a sense, was exactly where it wanted to be. The gymnasts needed to storm back and they did so. They built that gradual momentum, like they have all season long, and now, they’re advancing to the national final.

“We’ve seen that lineup throughout the season hit routine after routine, just a little mistake," said senior gymnast Sarah Finnegan. “We’ve done that before, so we know how to handle these situations. We talked about like, ‘Hey, it’s the first event. We still have three.’ So, we wanted to finish strong. I was really proud how my team handled that.”

“It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish and we wanted to see the momentum build and it made us tougher,” said head coach D-D Breaux. “It made us more focused and a team that was determined. Our message to them moving forward was, ‘Set your jaw. Now let’s go get it.'”

Finnegan finished with an all-around score of 39.6500 and led all competitors on bars.
