NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -Dry weather will last until Wednesday night .
Then we start looking forward to Jazz Fest beginning Thursday, and if the current forecast holds, it might see some rain on opening day.
The high pressure controlling our weather should keep us dry through Wednesday. Southerly winds will pump in a bit more moisture and clouds will increase through the middle of the week, but rain stays away until the next front pushes in during the day on Thursday.
While the heat and moisture combined with upper level winds will create an environment for severe storms, there is a lot of uncertainty in the current forecast.
If stronger storms develop off shore it could cut off the fuel source reducing rain coverage. There is also the potential for a second wave of rain that would bring significant rain totals mostly to the northwest corner of the forecast area.
We will have to monitor conditions closely through the week. The good news is that all rain ends Friday morning and dry skies prevail into the rest of the weekend.
