Man arrested after accidentally shooting 11-year-old boy, police say

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man has been arrested in connection with an accidental shooting that injured an 11-year-old boy.
The incident happened Monday, April 29 in the 2000 block of S Sherwood Forest Boulevard near Old Hammond Highway. The shooting happened around 5:40 p.m.
The boy was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the face. He was critical when he arrived at the hospital, but he is now expected to survive.

Police say James Gales, 19, turned himself in to police the following evening.
Gales was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He is charged with negligent injuring.
