NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A bill to create a New Orleans Saints inspired stretch of Interstate 10 that runs from Mississippi to Texas was passed by the state Senate. Bill 134 now heads back to the House.

The bill would allow the state department of transportation to add “Home of the Who Dat Nation” signs to the Louisiana welcome signs on I-10 at the Texas and Mississippi state lines, and in downtown New Orleans at the exit to the Superdome.

The state department would main those signs, provided it receives local or private money for the construction, not to exceed $1,100.

The most recent version of the bill is far less than what author Sen. William Bishop (D-New Orleans) envisioned. However, the interstate is already designated a Blue Star Memorial Highway, which honors the military.

The bill passed the Senate 32-5.
