NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A former Saints tight end is coming out of retirement and playing for the New England Patriots, according to a report.
Ben Watson announced his retirement just before the playoffs last season. But according to a tweet posted by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Watson is back in the league.
After Watson retired during the off-season, the Saints put a focus on finding new talent at the tight end position by signing veteran Jared Cook and drafting rookie Alize’ Mack. The Saints also signed an extension with Josh Hill. Dan Arnold and Garret Griffin round out players at the tight end position. All will be battling for a position on the team.
