NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Saints rookie minicamp kicked off with news that all five draft picks had signed their contracts and continued with practices moved indoors due to bad weather. On this episode of the podcast, Sean Fazende provides his impressions from the portion open to the media and examines a possible veteran for the Saints to target in the trade market.
Fazende on Erik McCoy’s learning curve with the Saints playbook:
“He’s going to have to learn that and the quicker he learns that, the quicker he’ll be able to get on the field. Now, you know who also has to learn the terminology? Nick Easton. So it’s not like he’s coming in battling a veteran that’s been here a long time.”
Fazende on Chauncey Gardner-Johnson’s surprising abilities:
“His man-to-man coverage skills stood out to me. I didn’t realize he had that type of stickiness to his man-to-man skills, almost to the point where it’s probably not accurate to call him a safety. He’s probably a nickel that can play safety, as opposed to a safety that can play nickel.”
