NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New information is being learned about the man who the FBI says may be among the most prolific serial killers in U.S. history. FOX 8 has been investigating Samuel Little’s possible connection to the 1973 disappearance of a New Orleans woman. Now, her 69-year-old son, who’s facing a life-threatening cancer diagnosis, said Little has confessed to killing his mother.
Kenneth Brown said he’s been told by the FBI that Little has confessed to killing his mother, nearly 50 years after she disappeared in New Orleans.
“We sent him a picture and he confirmed that it was her, that she was one of his victims, yes,” Brown said.
We first introduced you to Brown last month in a FOX 8 Exclusive when New Orleans Police confirmed they were investigating whether Little was connected to the 1973 disappearance of Brown’s mother, Sarah. She was a single mother working at a Canal Street restaurant when she went missing from a New Orleans bus stop.
Brown said he never stopped thinking about her.
“To just have her go off to work one day and then have nothing, a big empty space, nothing, nothing after that for 46 years,” Brown said. “She was a beautiful person, she would do anything for anybody and she left much too young.”
Little is currently in a Texas Prison where the FBI said he’s been drawing pictures of the women he killed. On the FBI’s website is one of those sketches. It’s of a woman who Little reportedly confessed to killing in 1973. And, according to what the FBI calls an “unmatched confession” from Little, his victim was named Sarah, and may have worked at a restaurant in New Orleans.
Brown said he gave a picture of his mother to the FBI, and not only did he say he’s been notified that Little confirmed that is in fact a picture of the woman he killed, Brown also said the FBI told him they would get a DNA swab from him, in the event investigators find his mother’s remains.
Brown’s wife, Valerie Brown, said she thought her husband might want to know more information about his mother’s death, in order to get closure. But she said that is not the case.
“I had asked my husband would he want to know exactly how he got her and what he did to her, and Ken said no. He doesn’t want to know all the details, he just wants to know where the bones are,” she said.
Brown said there is great relief hearing that Little has confessed to his mother’s murder, but he won’t have closure until he knows where her remains are and he can finally bring her home for a proper burial. That closure that may be more important than ever before as Brown has been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate and lung cancer.
“The hope is to somehow, miraculously, they find where my mom’s bones are lying. That is the one, and really only hope. I’m not worried about Samuel Little, what they do to him. He’s got life imprisonment. I’m not worried about anything else, all I want is to get my mom’s bones, and if I get them I’m going to put them in an urn, and that’s where they’re going to stay until eternity,” Brown said.
FOX 8 reached out to the FBI about Little’s connection to Sarah Brown, but they have not yet returned our request for comment.
