NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police are investigating a shooting in Central City Monday night (May 13), roughly a half-mile away from where four people were shot just hours earlier.
NOPD spokesman Gary Scheets said the shooting was reported shortly before 9:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of Sixth Street, where a man was found with a gunshot wound to the buttocks.
No additional information was immediately available.
The shooting marked the fifth in New Orleans in a 24-hour span, during which time a total of nine people were injured by gunfire. NOPD reported a quadruple shooting around 3 p.m. near the intersection of Fourth and South Saratoga streets. All of the victims were male, NOPD said. One was shot in the chest, another in the ankle and a third in the arm. At least one of the victim was a juvenile -- a 16-year-old boy who was shot in the arm.
