NEW ORLEANS, La. (WVUE) - Firefighters are currently on the scene of a fire at an abandoned New Orleans East movie theater.
NOFD confirmed the two-alarm fire at the Grand Theater near Read Boulevard and the I-10 Service Rd.
According to NOFD Chief Tim McConnell, the fire caused the roof of the building to collapse. Firefighters managed to contain the fire to just one theater inside of the building and the fire was under control around 11 p.m. Friday.
McConnell says a total of 16 units responded to the fire.
No one was in the building at the time of fire and no injuries were reported.
The building has been vacant since Hurricane Katrina.
