NEW ORLEANS, La. (WVUE) - The Pelicans are in the spotlight thanks to their lottery luck and hiring GM Trajan Langon while the Saints are about to be on display in the first week of organized team activities. Up in Baton Rouge, LSU’s football program had a scare with the temporary transfer portal entry of cornerback Kelvin Joseph, while the basketball team landed a 5-star commitment in Trendon Watford and the baseball squad has work to do in the SEC tournament to improve their NCAA tournament standing.
Sean Fazende on what he will be watching for from Jared Cook at practice:
“Can he bring the seam route? Can he bring the seven route? Where does he line up? Can he do in-line and also flex out? I think the idea originally was to flex out and have Josh Hill in when they’re in that two tight end set. But you can’t just do one thing in Payton’s offense, gotta be able to do a lot of things, go into motion if you have to so that’s certainly something to really watch.”
Chris Hagan on Kelvin Joseph contemplating a transfer from LSU:
“This was a guy that because of depth issues in their secondary was required to come in and play right away and for a guy that was recruited and listed as a safety, he came in and played corner so that obviously shows you his versatility. There’s playing time to be all over. With his ability, there’s no way they were going to be able to keep him off the field.”
