POINTE COUPEE PARISH, La. (WAFB) - The owners of the Pointe Coupee Animal Shelter are asking for the public’s help after someone allegedly broke in and stole medical supplies, food, and treats.

According to a Facebook post, thieves stole vaccinations, syringes, antibiotics, medical supplies, dishwashing liquid, along with most of their supply of dog food and treats.

“This is a major unexpected expense to replace everything that was stolen,” owners said in the post. As of June 26, the animal shelter received over $17,000 in donations from its Facebook fundraiser.

Owners of the shelter are asking for the following material donations:

  • Betadine
  • Alcohol
  • Peroxide
  • Neosporin
  • Anti-diarrhea medication
  • Allergy medication
  • Bandages
  • Tape
  • Treats
  • Dog food (Pedigree and Retriever Small Bites, which can be found at Tractor Supply Stores)
  • Blue-Kote

The owners have set up an Amazon wishlist if people wish to purchase items and have them shipped directly to the shelter.

All My Sons Moving & Storage has also teamed up with Baton Rouge-based Camp Bow Wow to collect items needed for the shelter. Items will be collected Sunday, June 30 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and delivered to the shelter Monday, July 1. The truck from All My Sons Moving & Storage will pick up items from Camp Bow Wow at 10 a.m. and plans to arrive at the animal shelter in New Roads between 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.
