MARRERO, La. (AP) - Louisiana authorities say a 22-year-old boater’s body has been found, two days after he was reported missing.

The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says in a news release that agents found the body of Charles Moton of Marrero on Tuesday near where he went into Lake Salvador on Sunday.

Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement spokesman Adam Einck said in an email Tuesday that investigators don't know whether Moton jumped or fell into the water. He says Moton's life jacket wasn't fastened properly and came off when he went in.

Moton’s body was turned over to the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office for autopsy, and Wildlife and Fisheries agents will lead the investigation into his death.

Lake Salvador is about 5 miles from the New Orleans suburb of Marrero.
