Bruce: One More Day Of PM Storms-Then Drier And Less Humid To End The Week

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WVUE) -Today we will see another chance of spotty pm storms with the threat of isolated heavy rain, then we will see improvements approaching the holiday weekend. A frontal boundary is moving south and will increase rain ahead of it through the day. We can also expect hot temperatures for the afternoon with the National Weather Service placing a heat advisory into effect for 11:00 am. Behind the front look for northerly winds and drier air to settle into the region. It will still be in the low to mid 90s for afternoon highs, but overnight lows should take a dip into the lower 70s and even some upper 60s north of Lake Pontchartrain. The nice conditions last through Saturday with just a return of some afternoon storms for Sunday and Labor Day on Monday.

Erin became a tropical storm in the Atlantic late Tuesday. The forecast remains out to sea for most of the week bringing storms to the Canadian provinces by the weekend.

Dorian is approaching Puerto Rico. The storm will continue to track northwest through the Bahamas towards Florida by the weekend. It’s still too early to assess if it poses any threat to the Gulf, but right now there is no reason for concern. Even through Sunday current forecast still place the storm on the east coast of Florida.
