NEW ORLEANS, La. (WVUE) - Sunny skies and low humidity have been the rule today and will continue into Saturday. With all the sunshine, it will still get hot with temperatures in the low 90s. A tropical disturbance (not Dorian) will move across the Gulf this weekend. The northern fringes will bring a round of showers and storms by Sunday and Monday. It won’t be a washout, but be prepared for some passing storms.
More dry air will move into the area for the middle and end of next week bringing more sunshine and relatively lower humidity for this time of the year.
Dorian is forecast to begin impacting the Florida Peninsula as early as Sunday night. It could linger for a few days as it slows and turns north. No need to cancel plans on the Florida panhandle for the holiday weekend. Stay with FOX 8 for any changes to the forecast next week.
