BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - An arrest has been made after a 41-year-old man was shot and killed at an apartment in Tigerland in early November of 2019.
The Baton Rouge Police Department announced Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020 the arrest of Donavon Jefferson, 31. He’s accused of killing Derek Jones, 41.
Police say Jefferson shot Jones after having a verbal argument at an apartment in the 1100 block of Jim Taylor Drive in Tigerland. Jones lived in the same building, but was inside a friend’s apartment when he was shot. The crime reportedly took place around 2 a.m.
BRPD says the Louisiana State Police Task Force arrested Jefferson Tuesday and brought him in for questioning. Police also say a Crime Stoppers tip played an important role in catching Jefferson.
Jefferson has been booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a second degree murder charge.
