Police: Three teens beat Kenner man with wrench; robbed him during home invasion

KENNER, La. (WVUE) -Three teenagers were arrested for beating and robbing a 59-year-old man in his home, according to Kenner Police.

It happened On Nov 7 in the 1700 block of Hudson Street.

Kenner Police say the victim, who requires a walker for assistance, was sitting in his living room when two suspects entered his living room.

Both suspects had their faces covered. One suspect struck the victim in the face and body with a crescent wrench. The suspects demanded the victim tell them where his money and guns were located.

The two suspects robbed the victim of his wallet, cash, a rifle, shotgun, credit cards and collectible coins and then fled the home.

A friend arrived at the victim’s home to visit and found the victim conscious, but bleeding from the face. The victim suffered lacerations to his face and lips.

Deputies arrived and determined the suspects entered the home by forcing an air conditioner window unit inward and climbed through the window.

A neighbor’s video surveillance revealed that four suspects entered the victim’s rear yard and detached garage. The wrench used came from the garage.

Several minutes later the four suspects were then observed fleeing from the rear yard. One of the weapons stolen during the robbery was located in a neighbor’s rear yard.

Later that same day Kenner Police responded to a suspicious person complaint in the 2200 block of 12th Street involving three individuals who appeared to be debating whether to enter the front yard of a residence with the front door open. The three subjects kept looking around as if to check if someone was watching them, police said.

All three subjects were located by police and matched the clothing description of the robbery suspects. Further investigation revealed that one of the suspects had the victims credit cards in his pockets, another suspect had rare coins and shotgun shells. Additionally, officers identified the three as being the suspects based on the video surveillance footage.

Kenner Police are attempting to identify the fourth suspect.

Lang Darby 17, of Metairie, was arrested and charged with aggravated Burglary, theft of firearm, illegal possession of stolen property, and other charges.

A sixteen-year-old from Metairie, was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and theft of firearm.

A fifteen-year-old also from Metairie was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary, iIllegal possession of stolen property, and theft of a firearm.
