NEW ORLEANS, La. (WVUE) -Mayor Cantrell and other Orleans Parish leaders announced a mass feeding initiative to address COVID-19 food insecurity across the city.
The program is a first of its kind in the country and is designed to assist residents who don’t already receive food assistance. FEMA is assisting with funding for the program.
The goal is to provide 60,000 meals per week.
Local restaurants who are interested in participating in making meals will need to submit a bid online by clicking here.
Residents who qualify include:
- Households with children under 18 years old
- Home bound adults
- Citizens with special needs
- Senior Citizens
- Homeless residents
