NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans Police are investigating the first homicide of the year that has left a woman dead in New Orleans East.
Police were called to the 7200 block of Morrison Road around 5:35 p.m. Sunday for an accident with injury. When they arrived at the scene, they found a woman inside of a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, the woman was driving eastbound in the 7000 block of Morrison Road when she was approached by an armed suspect who opened fire on her vehicle.
Police believe that she drove away from the scene and crashed into another vehicle in the 7200 block of Morrison Rd. before coming to a stop.
Investigators are working to determine a suspect and a motive in the shooting.
Two persons of interest are wanted for questioning in connection with the shooting. They were captured on surveillance camera near the scene of the incident. NOPD believes that they may have information that could aid in the investigation.
