NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - LSU pulled in 20 signees during the early National Signing Day period. Now, Coach Orgeron and his staff need to fill it out the class with the five remaining spots.
Right now, Rivals recruiting service ranks the class No. 3 overall.
The headliner of the 2021 class so far for LSU, Maason Smith. Rivals ranks the Terrebonne defensive lineman the No. 1 overall recruit for 2021. Smith signed with the Tigers in Houma last month.
LSU does have two verbal commits that have yet to sign for 2021.
Four-star defensive tackle, Saivion Jones, out of St. James High School, and 3-star offensive lineman, Kimo Makaneole, out of Niceville, FL.
So who will grab the other three spots? Here’s a few possibilities.
Harvard graduate transfer, Eric Wilson, could sign with the Tigers come February. The offensive lineman decommitted from Auburn recently. LSU already has one Harvard alum on it’s roster, center Liam Shanahan.
Walker wide receiver, Brian Thomas, Jr., is down to Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M. LSU possesses four recivers in the 2021 class, but Jack Bech could move to tight end.
California linebacker, Raesjon Davis, was committed to LSU for a long period of time, but decommitted in December. There’s still a shot the 4-star linebacker comes back in the fold. The University of Southern California is also in pursuit of Davis.
