NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The dates for LSU spring football have yet to be announced, but when they do commence, four scholarship quarterbacks will be under center for the workouts.
Coach Ed Orgeron appeared on “Off the Bench” this week, and said Myles Brennan has yet to be cleared for workouts. FOX 8 sources indicate that Brennan should be healthy by spring ball.
Brennan started three games in 2020. In a loss at Missouri, the junior suffered an injury, missing the rest of the regular season.
Ponchatoula alum, TJ Finley, stepped in for Brennan. Finley started five contest for the Tigers, accumulating a 2-3 record.
Finley orchestrated a big road victory at Arkansas. After the Alabama game, Max Johnson took over as QB1.
Rumors ran rampant this offseason that Finley would transfer, but that appears to not be the case.
Sources tell FOX 8, Finley likes the hirings of new offensive coordinator, Jake Peetz, and passing game coordinator, DJ Mangas.
Finley plans to be back at LSU for the spring semester.
Max Johnson went 2-0 as the starter at QB for the Tigers. Johnson threw three touchdown passes in a win over Florida. He threw for three TD’s against Ole Miss, and ran for two other scores.
The fourth quarterback on scholarship, incoming freshman Garrett Nussmeier. The 4-star quarterback will be an early enrollee at LSU.
Nussmeier will be moving onto the LSU campus this weekend. His roommate will be 5-star defensive lineman, Maason Smith.
