NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Former city council president Jason Williams was inaugurated as the District Attorney of New Orleans on Monday, Jan. 11.
In December, Williams won 58% of the vote over former judge and interim D.A. Keva Landrum.
Soon after he takes the oath, Williams could face a federal jury on 11 counts of tax fraud. He was formally charged with falsifying tax documents to avoid paying more than $200,000 dollars in taxes.
Fox 8 political analyst Mike Sherman says there is a provision that would fill any vacancy in the DA’s office if Williams steps down or is convicted.
