Moving New Orleans Bikes project

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -Mayor LaToya Cantrell will join other officials and community representatives to celebrate the completion of the Moving New Orleans Bikes lane reconfigurations along the first several blocks of Elysian Fields Avenue in Faubourg Marigny.

Moving New Orleans Bikes is an effort to improve the safety of people riding so more people can choose bicycles for transportation.

Much like the current road and sidewalk infrastructure for driving and walking, protected bike lanes are located either on or next to the road, but are physically separated and only used by people riding bikes.

As of December 2020, construction is underway in Algiers, the French Quarter, and the Marigny. Construction is expected to begin on additional corridors in these areas, as well as the 7th Ward, Central Business District, Central City, the Lower Garden District, Mid-City, and St. Roch in 2021.
