NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - This morning many of you had to scrape ice off the windshield as temps were at or below freezing especially north and west of the lake. So from waking up to the 30s we rise 35°+ to an afternoon high today in the mid to upper 60s. Sunny skies and southwesterly winds will bring in the brief warm-up. This will be short lived as another cold front arrives tonight dropping temps below average Friday into the weekend. AThe front will cross the area overnight bringing highs back into the 50s with a chilly breeze on Friday. Thankfully, this time, we will keep the sunshine!
The weekend looks mostly sunny with chilly starts and cool afternoons. Morning temperatures north and away from the Lake will be around freezing. On the immediate south shore, morning temperatures will start around 40.
Highs will reach the 50s Saturday and Sunday, and could be near 60 on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
We will warm up again next week with highs in the upper 60s Tuesday and Wednesday.
