BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards held his State of the State address Monday, April 12.
The governor’s address was delivered hours after the start of the regular session of the 2021 Louisiana Legislature.
Gov. Edwards, who delivered the address from A.W. Mumford Stadium on the campus of Southern University, discussed several topics including getting more residents to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, advocating for lawmakers to raise the minimum wage, proposing an office within the governor’s office to fight human trafficking, among many other topics.
The address also comes on the same day President Joe Biden’s administration gave Louisiana a “D+” grade for its infrastructure. The White House report says Louisiana has 1,634 bridges and more than 3,411 miles of highway in poor condition.
WAFB’s Chris Rosato will have more on the governor’s address on 9News at 10.
