SLIDELL (WVUE) - The St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District #1 says a home was left heavily damaged after a fire in Slidell.

On the fire district’s Facebook page, video shows firefighters working to put out the fire Monday afternoon in the Lakeshore Estates neighborhood.

We are currently on the scene of this residential structure fire in the Lakeshore Estates neighborhood. #SlidellFire

According to officials, firefighters were called to the 2000 block of Lakeshore Drive by neighbors around 1 p.m.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they evacuated the occupants from the home. One of the occupants suffered burns to their face and arm while attempting to evacuate their dogs.

Three of the dogs were evacuated safely. Unfortunately, one dog died in the fire.

The home was left heavily damaged and has been deemed unlivable.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
