Harahan woman killed by gunfire from suspect, Jefferson Parish coroner says

HARAHAN, La. (WVUE) - The Jefferson Parish coroner’s office says a woman killed in Harahan was shot by a suspect and not police.

The woman who was shot Sunday during a domestic incident died from her injuries.

The woman, identified as Lisa Arseneaux, 62, was shot by the suspect several times in the 100 block of Haroleans Street in Harahan, the Jefferson Parish coroner said.

Harahan Police Chief Tim Walker said officers responded to a domestic violence call around 6:23 p.m. on Monday and found a man attacking a woman while holding a firearm. Officers reported seeing the suspect pointing the gun at the woman’s head.

The suspect was involved in a shootout with officers.

Walker said the suspect and the female victim were transported to University Medical Center for treatment.

Officials say Arseneaux succumbed to her injuries.

“There were no projectiles recovered at autopsy that were from the Law Enforcement duty weapons which were used in the shooting of the suspect in this case.,” the coroner’s office said.

No police officers were injured.
