METAIRIE, La. (WVUE) - Excitement is in the air as the NBA playoffs return to New Orleans for the first time in four years and the Pelicans are hoping to take a 2-1 lead after Friday’s game.

Fans are showing support in all kinds of ways. One young fan named Jonah with his father, Eric Flynt, went to the New Orleans airport Wednesday evening to greet the team as they made their return from Game 2 in Phoenix on Tuesday night.

Jonah’s father said they arrived at the gate a little late but Pelicans players Jose Alvarado and Willy Hernangomez spotted the family outside of the fence and stopped by to say hello and snap a photo with the young man.

As Jonah and his father stood around Aberdeen Street and waived at the players and staff leaving out in their cars, the two said guards Naji Marshall and Trey Murphy III were in a vehicle together and rolled down the window to wave at them.

Hernangomez acknowledged the meet and greet later on Twitter.
