Man dead after being shot in head; wife in custody
Caddo coroner’s office identifies parish’s 25th homicide victim of the year
SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Emergency crews responded to a fatal shooting during the early morning hours of Monday, May 16.
Shreveport police officers responded to the 3100 block of Regent Street between Hudson and Walker streets just minutes after 3 a.m. Fire Department personnel also responded to the scene.
Police say a woman is in custody, while her husband is dead after being shot in the head.
The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office later identified him as 45-year-old Larry Clark, of the 3100 block of Regent Street in the city’s Ingleside neighborhood.
SPD officials say the couple got into a heated verbal argument, when the man reportedly went for his gun. That’s when the wife reportedly grabbed her weapon and shot her husband in the head.
Clark was pronounced dead at the scene at the couple’s residence by a representative of the coroner’s office, while the woman was taken into police custody for questioning.
Booking records for the Shreveport City Jail show 43-year-old Charlene Henderson has been charged with second-degree murder and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm in connection with this case. No bond has been set at this time.
Court records show in 2004, Henderson pleaded guilty to manslaughter after initially being charged with second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of Velma Sigure in May of 2003. She was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
An arson investigator also responded to the scene.
Clark’s death marks the 25th homicide this year in Caddo Parish.
