Man who died after falling into water near Grand Isle was BR resident, officials say
GRAND ISLE, La. (WAFB) - The Grand Isle Police Department confirmed the body of a man was found early Sunday, June 25, after that person fell into the water near Grand Isle.
The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office said the victim’s name is Roger Gomez Perez, 25. Police said the victim was a Baton Rouge resident.
According to a spokesperson with the U.S. Coast Guard, they were notified that the man fell into the water around 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 24. Police added that he was fishing on some jetties when the water rose.
A boat and helicopter were sent to help with rescue efforts, the U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson added.
The body of the man surfaced just after 2 a.m. Sunday, June 25, according to police.
