Father, son killed in early morning shooting in New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a double homicide in the 4000 block of Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, near S. Broad Street.
Sixth District officers responded to reports of gunfire around 4:20 a.m. Thursday (April 18). Upon arrival, they found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victims were pronounced dead on the scene. Family members identified the men as 71-year-old Douglas Patterson and his son, 21-year-old Dalton Reeder.
The NOPD says 21-year-old Ronell Reeder arrived at the police station to turn himself in while investigators were on the scene. He was taken into custody for questioning and subsequently booked on two counts of second-degree murder.
NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick says Reeder has ties to the address and that the shooting was not random.
