Rilwan Balogun is thrilled to be a part of the Fox 8 News team. Rilwan is from Nashville, Tennessee but excited to explore all of Louisiana.
Rilwan started his career in 2015 as a fellow in Phoenix, Arizona with Carnegie-Knight News21’s investigation on marijuana legalization in the United States. From there, Rilwan went to the Midwest. In Lansing, Michigan Rilwan covered the Flint Water Crisis, Michigan State University Spartans and state legislature.
Rilwan then traveled south to Greensboro, North Carolina where he honed in on his reporting and became the lead crime reporter and covered his first hurricane with Florence when it hit the Outer Banks.
Rilwan is an proud and active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated and the National Association of Black Journalists. When Rilwan isn’t working, you can find him either runner, supporting his Volunteers, or as a cinephile - watching a movie.
