How to bet on the moneyline and spread

Have the urge to bet on the Wildcats' game versus the Kentucky Wildcats but aren't sure where to begin? We're here to assist you. Betting the moneyline, spread, and over/under are a few of the most common ways to make bets. A moneyline bet means that you think one of the teams -- for example, the Kansas State Wildcats (+130) -- will win the contest. Pretty simple. If you bet $10 on the Kansas State Wildcats to take down the Kentucky Wildcats with those odds, and the Kansas State Wildcats emerge with the victory, you'd get back $23.00.

Spread betting, like wagering on the Kansas State Wildcats at +2.5, is a little more complicated. However, in certain circumstances, it can offer a larger payout or a more realistic chance of winning your bet. In this case, the +2.5 means that the Kansas State Wildcats must either pick up the win, tie, or lose by no more than two points to "cover the spread." If the Kentucky Wildcats win by at least three points, though, they will "cover" the spread, making them the correct choice.

Other bets you can make

Wagering on the over/under, or point total, is a much easier way to bet. Just pick whether you think the combined score of both teams will be above or below a particular number at the end of the contest. Let's say you bet $10 on the over, with odds of -110. You'd get back $19 if you pick correctly.

There are tons of other ways to bet, including on game props (will Kansas State be the first team to reach five points?), parlays (combining picks from multiple games to multiply your winnings), and more. Check out the BetMGM website and app for more details on the multitude of ways you can play.
