Spurs coach Greg Popovich may be the Associated Press' Coach of the Year but his understudy, Monty Williams, got mentioned in the final tally as well.

Popovich garnered 77 of the 119 first place votes and 24 second place votes.  Williams got one second place vote, good enough for three points in the voting system.

According to that system, Williams ranks as the 12th best coach in the league this year despite his team having the 28th worst record in the league.  In his first year with the Hornets, Williams led the team to a 46-36 record before losing in the first round to the Lakers, four games to two.
