Prize-winning author to address Loyola grads

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Pulitzer Prize-winning author and presidential historian Jon Meacham will address Loyola University's graduation ceremonies on Saturday.

The commencement will take place at 9:45 a.m. at the Superdome.

Meacham, executive vice president of Random House Publishing, will receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters joining Loyola's other honorary degree recipients. Others to receive honorary degrees are Connie Jones, cornet player who performed with Pete Fountain and the Dukes of Dixieland, and Paul Pastorek, former Louisiana superintendent of education and Loyola alumnus.

Loyola's College of Law commencement ceremony takes place at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday at the Superdome.

Speaker will be Stephen Higginson, a newly appointed judge for the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and former Loyola faculty member.
