The Honey Badger is hoping to enroll in classes at LSU for the fall semester, which is now underway, before the registration deadline, which is next Wednesday, August 29.

Tyrann's father, Tyrone Mathieu, says his son is doing so well at his recovery program in Houston, and there's a good chance he'll be able to come home early next week and be back on campus for classes by the middle to the end of next week.

That plan is predicated on getting a nod of approval from John Lucas.

The former NBA star and recovered cocaine addict is personally mentoring Tyrann through his recovery program at First Step Treatment Center.

Tyrone Mathieu says although his family supports Tyrann's plan to head back to LSU, Lucas will be the one to make the call about whether the Honey Badger is indeed ready to return to Tigerland.

Tyrone Mathieu tells Fox 8, "We're so proud of all the progress Tyrann has made, and our entire family is excited about what we hope will be a new start at LSU."
