Hammond man shoots and kills his father

Hammond, La. - A Hammond man is in police custody after shooting and killing his father Thursday morning.

According to a spokesman with the Hammond Police Department, around 9:50am officers responded to a 911 call in reference to a shooting at 601 Rue Cannes.

When officers arrived at the address, 30 year-old Robert Lafargue came out of his residence with no resistance and gave himself up to patrol officers. He admitted to shooting his 67 year-old father Laurent Lafargue.

The victim was found in his bedroom as paramedics' were called to the scene before the Coroner's office was called.

Robert Lafargue was arrested and transported to the Hammond Police Department investigation division where he was interviewed and then booked into the Hammond Jail.

Lafargue will be charged with First degree murder.
