Body of missing Hammond man found and recovered from Plaquemines Parish canal

New Orleans, La -- Crews in Plaquemines Parish have located and recovered the body of missing Hammond man, Victor Navarro. His body was located Sunday at 1:15 p.m. about 20 feet from the bank and 75 feet south from where his vehicle was recovered.

Police say that the only trauma found on Navarro's body was a small cut under his left eye. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

The Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office Marine Division, the Louisiana State Police Aviation Unit out of Baton Rouge, Help! Search and Rescue Dog Team of Slidell, U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans, Louisiana State Police Troop B, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office LASER Division, The Slidell Police Department and the Louisiana Search and Rescue Dog Team all assisted in the search for Victor Navarro, which began Friday.
