Mother's Day shooting suspects plead not guilty

New Orleans, La. - Two brothers accused in connection with the Mother's Day shooting plead not guilty in court Wednesday.

19 year-old Akein Scott and 24 year-old Shawn Scott appeared at Orleans Criminal Court for an arraignment Wednesday morning where a judge read off the lengthy 39-count bill of indictment against them.

The Scott brothers each face numerous charges of attempted second degree murder and aggravated assault with a firearm in connection with the Mothers' Day parade shooting.

Police say the men fired into a crowd of second-liners who were parading through the Seventh Ward.

Three of the five people arrested as alleged accessories also appeared in court. Each of them pleaded not guilty.
