GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - State environmental officials have issued a water-contact advisory for a stretch of beach along Mississippi Sound in Harrison County.

The state Department of Environmental Quality says the beach is not closed but there may be a heightened risk associated with swimming there.

High bacteria levels were detected in a sample taken along the beach, from Teagarden to Anniston Avenue in east Gulfport.
