NOPD: Arrest made in fatal hit and run of 6-year-old

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The NOPD announced an arrest in Monday's hit-and-run accident that killed a 6-year-old boy. Police say the silver Honda Crosstour involved was located in the 1600 block of Charlton Drive Monday afternoon.

The driver was identified as 22-year-old Arthur Toledano. He was booked with manslaughter, attempted manslaughter, hit and run and reckless operation.

An NOPD spokesman said the hit and run happened around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Lafreniere and Paris Avenue in Gentilly.

The boy was taken to the hospital, where he died. The boy's 9-year-old sister was also struck. Police say her injuries are not life-threatening.

Detectives found parts of the Honda Crosstour on the scene and obtained surveillance video footage that captured the incident.

Family members identified  the boy as Shaud Wilson. They said he was a first-grade student at Akili Academy.
