NOPD: Woman kidnapped from French Quarter, raped
Police are trying to find four men they say kidnapped a woman from the French Quarter and possibly raped her.
New Orleans detectives say it happened Saturday morning between around 1 a.m., according to the 30-year-old victim. It was reported to police later that afternoon.
She told police she was drinking at a bar with friends when they became separated. When she went to look for them she got lost and bumped into a man.
She told police that is when a dark colored SUV approached her in the 700 block of Royal St. Someone forced her into the vehicle with four men.
The woman told police she was raped. The victim made it to an area hospital to get help, although it is unclear how she got there.
Police say the woman was staying at a hotel in Metairie and she was a visitor from out of town.
On a street typically filled with tourists, Nick Sinclair said it is difficult to imagine something so terrible would happen.
"It just seems bizarre, out of place," Sinclair said. "I couldn't imagine that happening. It doesn't seem like something that would happen down here."
Investigators describe one man as having dirty brown hair that was short on the sides and dreadlocks pulled into a ponytail. He has a medium to husky build with a beard and a piercing over his right eyebrow.
A second man is described as having curly blond hair, about 6'3" with a thin build. He was wearing a yellow shirt, aqua "skinny" jeans and white high top shoes.
Another man is described as having long, dirty blonde dreadlocks with a think build, wearing a black shirt and shorts.
No description was provided for the other man in the SUV.
