Three Jefferson Parish Public Schools receive national recognition

HARVEY, LA (WVUE) -- Three Jefferson Parish Schools have been recognized by the U.S. News & World Report in their annual Best Schools list. Thomas Jefferson High School, Riverdale High School and Grace King High School were named the three best public schools in Louisiana in the report, released Wednesday. Thomas Jefferson was ranked as the top high school and awarded a silver medal based on certain factors. The factors are the school's performance on state assessments, their demographics and how well they prepare students for college.

According to the release, Riverdale and Grace King were awarded bronze medals. Thomas Jefferson is ranked 727th nationally in the report.

"It is a tremendous accomplishment for the students, faculty, and staff of these schools to be recognized nationally by U.S. News," said Superintendent Dr. James Meza, Jr. "I also want to congratulate Thomas Jefferson High School on not only their national ranking on the Best High Schools list, but on being ranked as the top public high school in Louisiana."
