Police responded Monday to the second fatal shooting of the day.
The incident happened at about 6:20 p.m. at Charbonnet and N. Johnson streets in the Lower Ninth Ward. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Corey Reed.
There was no information about a possible suspect.
Earlier in the day, at about 4:15, a 17-year-old was shot at the corner of Eads and N. Rocheblave streets. That victim, later identified as Dwayne Joseph, died at the hospital.
Police are trying to cope with a rash of violence that has marred the Memorial Day holiday. Since Thursday, a total of 21 people have been shot, and five have died.
