2 men killed in single-car crash in Terrebonne Parish

TERREBONNE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Two people were killed Wednesday morning in a single-car crash in Terrebonne Parish. Neither victim was wearing a seat belt.

The accident happened at 7:40 a.m. on La. 182 near Oak Forest Drive.

Investigators said a 2005 Toyota Camry, occupied by 23-year-old Jerome Evans and 31-year-old Dontrell Boykin, both of Gray, was traveling through moderate fog westbound on La. 182 when the driver, for unknown reasons, failed to negotiate a left curve in the road, drove off the highway and struck a tree. The car overturned and was partially submerged in Bayou Black.

Evans and Boykin sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead on the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner's Office.

Investigators said it was unclear who was driving or if the driver was impaired. Blood samples were taken and results are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
