Body found in Lake Pontchartrain near Seabrook Bridge

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A spokesperson with Mayor Mitch Landrieu's office confirms that the body found in Lake Pontchartrain Wednesday morning is related to a plane crash last week.

The New Orleans Police Department says that a man's body was found in Lake Pontchartrain early Wednesday morning. The body was found near the Seabrook Bridge in the 5400 block of Lakeshore Drive.

Two people were on board when a plane crashed on November 12 in Lake Pontchartrain. Both occupants, a pilot and a student, have been missing since last Wednesday.

The pilot has been identified as Burt Lattimore of Chalmette. Lattimore had been a pilot for more than 25 years, according to Brayton Matthews, the general manager of Flightline.

The student has been identified by | The Times-Picayune as Aftab Rab of Mandeville.

The unidentified male has been transported to the Coroner's Office.

City officials will hold a news conference to discuss a body found in Lake Pontchartrain on Wednesday and how it is related to a recent plane crash.
