SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) - Slidell police are warning residents of a man with "weird teeth" who is claiming to be an ADT alarm representative.

Officers first received reports of the man on Friday. The police department was alerted of a man who claimed to be an ADT alarm representative knocking on the door of a home on Southpark Drive. The man claimed to be an ADT representative and asked the homeowner if he could come inside to check on the alarm.

The homeowner contacted ADT who stated they did not have anyone scheduled to be at the house. The homeowner then called the Slidell Police Department, but the suspect fled the scene before police could arrive.

Officers say they received a similar report outside of city limits that same evening.

Police have described the suspect as a white male, approximately 5'9" and weighing 170 pounds. Officers say he has short hair with "weird teeth." A black 2005-2011 Chevy Impala accompanied the suspect and was driven by a "large" white male.

Officers warn residents to never let an individual into their homes without proper identification.

Police say the scam has been happening for years and is not limited to ADT.
