SANIBEL, FLORIDA (WVUE) - A Florida kayaker lands a giant catch.
Raw footage shows a fisherman pull in a giant goliath grouper. Fishing officials are calling it the "largest bottom fish ever caught from a kayak" in Sanibel, Florida.
The fish is estimated at 83 inches long and over 73 inches in girth, according to Chew on This Fishing Charters. The Florida-based company estimates the fish weighs 552 pounds.
Jon Black screams with excitement as he pulls in the fish. His rod snapped, but he was able to guide the massive fish to shore where it was measured and released – as required by law.
Goliath groupers are listed as critically endangered fish. Harvest and possession is prohibited in both state and federal waters.
