Mom, child killed; another child critical after 2-car crash in Plaquemines Parish

PLAQUEMINES PARISH, LA (WVUE) - A mother and her toddler were killed and a child in another car was critically injured Monday afternoon in a crash in Plaquemines Parish.
The two-vehicle accident happened at about 12:40 p.m. on La. Highway 23 about two miles south of Lake Hermitage.
Police said Jenny Taing was driving northbound in a Toyota Scion when, for unknown reasons, she crossed over into the southbound lane and collided head-on with Toyota Land Cruiser driven by 38-year-old William Weidner of New Orleans.
Taing and her 4-year-old died at the scene. Weidner sustained moderate injuries, and his 6-year-old son was hospitalized in critical condition.
The crash is under investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop B.
