Security guard's gun stolen in 7th Ward

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Police are on the lookout for two men accused of jumping a security guard in the 7th Ward and stealing his gun.

According to NOPD, the security guard was parked near the corner of North Galvez and Aubrey Street around 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 11. Police say he removed his duty belt, which held his gun, and placed it in his car. It was then that two unknown men approached him.

One suspect grabbed and held the security guard while the other took his belt from the vehicle. The guard managed to free himself and fought the other suspect for possession of his the duty belt and fire arm. During the struggle, one of the suspects managed to gain possession of the guard's gun at which point both suspects fled the scene.

The victim described the first suspect as a black male, about 6'4" tall in his late 20s. He was wearing a faded bucket-style hat, white shirt and blue jeans.

The second suspect was described as 5'7" black male, weighing about 240 lbs. and wearing an orange shirt with khaki pants.
